DACA Shouldn't Be Taken Down

On November 12, 2012, Obama created a program called DACA for child arrivals. The "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) program, has about 700,000 people that are getting protected from deportation. This program allows child arrivals to have work and be able to have an education. The people that have DACA are people that were brought to the United States without a choice. Not everyone was able to apply to DACA because the people had to be older than 15 years old. Donald Trump became president in 2016 and didn't allow people to apply for DACA anymore. Recently, “The threat of losing their protected status prompted hundreds of DACA recipients to march, ride or fly to Washington for Tuesday's argument and stage demonstrations outside the court.”. Donald Trump wants to take away DACA for good which will result in fear for all those undocumented arrivers who have been protected for so long. I believe that DACA shouldn't be taken down because the people didn't have a choice to come to the United States, should have the opportunity towards having a successful life. It not there faults for being here, so it’s not fair for them to get deported.

  1. I agree with your point! I also want to point out that DACA was meant to help undocumented people but with Trump, it turned the other way around. DACA was a tool to find undocumented people and put them at a risk of deportation. I don't think its fair because most people with DACA are taking advantage of their education. At the same time, this benefits the work force.

  2. I agree with Christian, as well as you Ricky. DACA shouldn't be taken away because the people protected under it actually take advantage of the opportunities it offers. Going to college and getting jobs without fear of getting deported. I read on "https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/immigration/news/2017/08/28/437956/daca-recipients-economic-educational-gains-continue-grow/" that DACA recipients were doing great things such as opening restaurants, going to schools and getting jobs they would otherwise not have if they weren't protected by DACA. Also if they did get deported a big portion of the economy would go away they provide over 8 million Americans jobs contributing over $1 trillion to the economy.
