Based on what I understood, back when Trump was first elected he wanted to remove people from applying to DACA. A program that prevents immigrants from being deported for being illegal, allowing them to work and go to school without fear of being deported. When DACA was first created over 700,000 immigrants were admitted under its protection. Today there are 177,000 immigrants under its protection but who are facing an end to their protections as their protections expire. Looking further into the future, 374,000 Dreamers hold DACA that expires in July 2020 or beyond. Slowly leading to the fall of DACA. If you apply for DACA today as a first time applicant you will not be considered. Trump wasn't able to completely remove people from DACA to deport immigrants, the least he could do is prevent new DACA applicants from getting any consideration towards their services.
If Trump had succeeded and completely removed DACA there would have been a lot of negatives that would have come with the deportation of millions of immigrants. I read of 'Slate' that "According to a study by New American Economy, a bipartisan research group, businesses owned by immigrants, in general, employ more than 8 million Americans and add $1 trillion to the economy." Which would hit America really hard directly affected non-immigrants? The article stated many jobs and goods that only immigrants harvest such as milk in Wisconsin being harvested by 80% of immigrants in the area. So will the fall of DACA that is projected to happen in the coming years lead to the same results or will they be more severe with the economy dropping even more? Or will DACA stay in action and come back to life in the coming election?
